Cranberry-Raspberry Smoothie
A morning smoothie is a great way to get a serving of important fertility foods like calcium-rich yogurt and orange juice, which is a good source of folate.
1 ripe banana, peeled, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup (125 mL) fresh raspberries
1/2 cup (125 mL) vanilla or plain whole-milk yogurt
2 tablespoons (30 mL) fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup (125 mL) fresh orange juice
1 to 2 tablespoons (15 to 30 ml) honey
For a thick, icy drink with the texture of a milk shake, freeze a peeled banana the night before you plan to make this smoothie.
Combine the banana, raspberries, yogurt, cranberries, orange juice, and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey in a blender and whirl until smooth. Taste for sweetness and add more honey, if desired. If you used a frozen banana, you may need to add more orange juice to thin the smoothie to your desired consistency.
Serves 1 to 2; makes 1 1/2 cups (375 mL)
