That’s right: playing sports, gardening, walking and even doing housework for just 20 minutes a day can reduce stress and anxiety, according to a ScienceDaily report. Naturally, sports reduced the risk of distress the most, by as much as 33 percent.
No need to restrict yourself to 20 minutes, though: increasing the amount and intensity of exercise beyond that amount boosted the mental health benefits further. The research, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, studied 19,842 men and women.
While this is good news for all of us, married women will be especially happy. As you may recall, we recently reported that having a husband creates an extra seven hours of housework a week for women. Yikes.
As for me, I’d rather walk briskly for two hours than clean my bathroom for 20 minutes. But I supposed this news will make cleaning a little more palatable…
