It’s moustache season, once again. All November long, we’ll be encouraging clean shaven men as they transition into mustachioed crusaders for prostate cancer (aka "Mo Bros"). Considering prostate cancer is 90 percent curable if caught in time, the Movember movement is truly a great awareness campaign, and this year it’s even easier to participate and recruit through the Movember Facebook app.

One in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. It’s also the most common cancer to affect men in Canada.

Here’s a little background on how this global facial hair movement caught on: Movember started in Australia nine years ago and has gone on to raise over $174 million and sprout 1.1 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas worldwide. That’s a lot of moustaches.

Last night, I watched Justin Trudeau shave his ‘stache off live on TV while being interviewed by the CBC. He urged politicians and Canadians across the country to get on board. Last year, more than $20 million was raised for Prostate Cancer Canada.

At the end of the month, consider having a big ‘ol Movember party to compare your fuzzy upper lips. Recommened prize categories are: Best Mo in Character, Miss Movember and, of course, the Annual Man of Movember.

Are you participating in Movember? Is your guy? We want to see your ‘staches. Send us pics on Twitter @besthealthmag or through Facebook.com/besthealth.
