Do you have a quick chat with co-workers on Monday mornings before beginning the workday? If so, that friendly work environment and positive relationship with co-workers could benefit your health, reports The Telegraph.
According to researchers at Tel Aviv University, having a group of colleagues you get along with is just as important as having support from your friends. Since we spend so much time with our co-workers during the week when we’re often not able to see our friends, a happy work environment substitutes as a form of social support‘and could help you live longer.
For the study, researchers followed the health records of 820 adults for 20 years. Those participants who had reported having little social support at work were 2.4 times more likely to die at some point within those 20 years, according to Sharon Toker, a researcher in the Department of Organizational Behaviour at Tel Aviv University.
