Would you ever intentionally gain 70 pounds? Because that’s exactly what one personal trainer has done in an effort to show that weight loss is possible.
Drew Manning is a Utah-based personal trainer who wanted to know exactly how his clients felt’so he’s joined them with his own weight-loss journey. For the past six months, Manning has consistently put on weight by foregoing exercise and indulging in a poor diet.
"I’ve never had to struggle with being in shape, I’ve never had to struggle with being overweight, so, for the first time in my life, I figured why not better understand what some of my clients go through," he told the Deseret News.
Manning began his journey in May, weighing 193 pounds. Six months later, he’s gained 76 pounds, and now weighs in at 269. (Check out photos of his weekly weigh-ins). He plans to lose the weight in the same amount of time he took to gain it.
Nov. 5 marks the beginning of his "fit" phase. Just as he blogged about his six-month "fat" phase, Manning will be updating his blog, Fit2Fat2Fit, as he loses the weight. His updates will include fitness tips and meal plans, so viewers can follow along on their own fitness journey.
What do you think? Is Manning showing commitment to his clients? Or is he pointlessly putting his health at risk?
