I came across an inspiring statement today (see image above) while browsing Best Health’s Pinterest account. It reads: "Being healthy and fit isn’t a fad or a trend. Instead, it’s a lifestyle." It’s fitting considering it’s the beginning of a new year and resolutions to get healthy, lose weight, etc. are top of mind for a lot of people. Unfortunately, 88 percent of resolutions fail, primarily due to the fact that they’re unrealistic and expected to be a quick fix. I recently spoke to Dr. Yoni Freedhoff to get his advice on what it takes for a resolution to be successful. In order to determine whether you’ll be able to stick to your goal, he suggests evaluating your resolution with a one-question litmus test. ‘Ask yourself, ‘Could I keep doing this for the rest of my life?’ If the answer is no, you’ve got to find something else to do,’ he says. ‘If it’s going to be a temporary effort, you’ll only have a temporary outcome.’
