This morning I attended a media sneak peak at the canfitpro International Fitness and Club Business Conference and Trade Show where I got to see some of the latest fitness trends and gadgets. One that I’m pretty excited about? Probably the RealRyder Stationary Bike. (That’s co-founder Colin Irving showing us how it works, above) The RealRyder bike engages more muscles than a normal stationary bike because its frame actually allows you to steer and lean with the bike as you would on an actual road bike. The side-to-side motion means you’re continuously engaging your core, and improving your overall balance.

Simon Whitfield was also there for the opening ceremonies to deliver the keynote address. Having just returned from the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, where a bad cycling crash forced him out of the Triathalon, Whitfield’s speech was an inspiring one’about how to stay humble and get back up each time you fall. "It’s about the process," he says ‘ not necessarily winning, but the effort and commitment that it takes to get there.

The CanFitPro Consumer Fitness and Wellness Show is on all weekend at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. Visit canfitpro.com to find out more.
