I attended the launch of the O-Active Running Club in Toronto’s High Park last night where I took part in a 5 Km run. The humidity had let up just enough for the 5:30 p.m. run to be bearable and the tree-lined trails we took through the park offered a great escape from the usual bustling city. It was the first time I had participated in an organized 5K run (I usually stick to the treadmill), and I wasn’t sure how well I would fare against the others. But I found the group setting pushed me further than I would normally push myself. It’s a lot easier to keep running, or start running again after a short break, if you’ve got someone alongside you for motivation! Besides the occasional tree root or steep hill, the run was really enjoyable and I felt great afterwards’both physically and mentally! Endorphins from the exercise, plus the beautiful scenery’I think I just might now be hooked on trail running!

Also at the launch was the latest collection of women’s gear (see photo above), and a sneak peak of the fall collection. (Check out more of the Oakley Women’s Collection on their website.)

If you’re interested in coming out, the O-Active Running Club will take place every Tuesday evening throughout the summer in Toronto and Montreal. There you’ll be able to get running tips from one of the new ambassadors for Oakley Women, plus a post-run stretching session. You can check out the schedule online.

If you’re not close to either Toronto or Montreal, why not start your own summer running club? Find out how with our 5K running plan.
