In July, salon hair brand Kérastase will be bringing to Canada its new Couture line of styling and finishing products (Kate Moss is the ‘face’ of the line) designed under the guidance of hair stylist Luigi Murenu. The photo here shows Lift Vertige ($36), intended to give the roots a subtle lift.

A lot of attention went into the scent of the Couture products; as part of the experience, they are laced with a ‘floral-chypre’ fragrance that has patchouli in the base notes.

Despite the lofty name, the products are intended, says Kérastase U.S. Artistic Director, Nina Dimachki (pictured below), to encourage making the best of your hair texture. ‘Rock what you have,’ she says.

Recently I was treated to a blow-out at One2One Studio in Toronto by the PR team launching Couture, where I had the chance to talk to Dimachki about hair trends (she was thinking fall, but I was thinking spring, somehow we managed). She was all about ‘street.’

If you have waves, bring out your natural texture. Kérastase Couture offers a non-salt beachy waves spray called Spray à Porter that I can’t personally wait to try.

‘There’s a trend to treating your hair while it’s up,’ she said. You work a product, such as an elixir, in to the hair and then put it in a sleek low bun.

With a low sleek ponytail or low chignon: They can take a little gloss finishing product, but they should never look laminated.

‘Tousled bouffants are the new version of the beehive,’ Dimachki said, suggesting the New York designer Vera Wang spring/summer 2013 runway show as a reference.
