Get fit on the fly: This September, GoodLife Fitness will open its first-ever in-airport location at Toronto Pearson International Airport. "I travel back and forth across the country on almost a weekly basis, visiting our over 300 clubs," GoodLife Fitness founder and CEO, David "Patch" Patchell-Adams said in a press release. "Since we have over 80 clubs clubs in the Greater Toronto Area, I land at Toronto Pearson most of the time and I kept thinking that it would be amazing to have one of our clubs in the terminal so that I could work out whie I was waiting for my flight. I knew that this would be great for other travellers and our members, too."

The 11,00 square-foot club will be located in terminal one, at the arrivals level (the design above shows what the facility is expected to look life). Amenities will include cardiovascular equipment, strength training equipment and free weights, free luggage storage, change rooms with private showers and lockers and towel service. A relaxing lounge area with massage chairs will also be available.

"We’re really excited about providing this new, convenient facility for our members" says Kathy MacKinnon, vice president of operations for GoodLife Fitness. "We really want to get rid of any time barriers people have to fitness by providing more options to get healthy."

MacKinnon noted that there are no plans to offer fitness classes at this time, as the airport location will focus on a come and go atmosphere that’s flexible for all travellers.

GoodLife Fitness has more than 877,000 members across Canada, and in 2012, Toronto Pearson handled 35 million passengers. Travellers will be able to access the new club either through their existing GoodLife Fitness membership, or by purchasing a one-day pass.
