On my vacation to Cuba back in February, I got a taste of the warm sunny days that are now just around the corner, and a practice round in summer skin care. My pale skin is ultra-sensitive to the sun’s harsh rays, so I need to remember to be really diligent in reapplying frequently so I won’t burn. When it comes to wearing sunscreen on my face, I’m always picky about finding a product that will protect my skin but won’t also make it break out.

So, when a bottle of Clarins UV Plus Protective Day Screen SPF 40 ($42, 30 mL) arrived in our office shortly before I left for Cuba, I snapped it up right away to give it a test in the tropical sun’and boy was I glad I did! The high level of SPF kept my skin as pale as when I left home even after a week of almost constant exposure. Its lightweight milky texture feels more like a lotion than a sunscreen, and it spreads on easily and absorbs into skin almost instantly. The best part? No breakouts, and my skin had never felt softer. Now that summer’s on its way back here at home, I’ll definitely be switching out my regular daily moisturizer for the Clarins Day Screen.
