If you want young, radiant-looking skin, it’s time to lace up your running shoes and tune up your bike.

A new study shows that cardio exercise not only keeps skin looking younger – it can also reverse skin aging.

Researchers from McMaster University found that, starting at age 40, study volunteers who exercised regularly had skin composition that more closely resembled a 20 or 30-year-old than someone 40-plus who doesn’t exercise, reports the New York Times.

More research is needed, but in the meantime it’s good to know that we can skip the expensive beauty products and treatments in favour of a regular workout routine.

‘It is astonishing to consider all of the intricate ways in which exercise changes our bodies,”
study leader Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky told the New York Times.

We couldn’t agree more – everything from yoga and running to swimming and stand-up paddleboarding has incredible benefits.

And exercising even has some unexpected benefits that you might not be aware of – like improving cell function and boosting immunity.

Time to get active!
