MedicAlert bracelets have been helping to promote awareness of potentially life-threatening allergic reactions or conditions since 1961. Health Canada reports that as many as 1.2 million Canadians may be affected by life-threatening food allergies, with six percent of children affected. And, according to the Asthma Society of Canada, over 3 million Canadians have asthma. Asthma is most common during childhood and affects at least 13 percent of Canadian children.
Nut and drug allergies are the number one reason students have MedicAlert, followed by asthma, diabetes and epilepsy. Now, MedicAlert is calling for students to show their creativity by designing a new MedicAlert sports band. The winning design will be created and included in the 2013 product line. Plus, the winner will receive a free MedicAlert membership and their custom designed sports band.
Entries are being accepted from July 31 to September 28, and the contest is open to students aged kindergarten to grade eight (age 5 – 14).
