How much time do you spend looking for the perfect gift? According to a recent Ipsos Reid poll, Canadians will spend 11 hours, on average, shopping for presents for family and friends this holiday seasons. But that got me thinking’ if we’re spending more time at the mall and less time at the gym, it may not necessarily cancel out staying active. Eleven hours is a long time, especially in dealing with lineups, surveying the aisles, and finding the furthest parking spot from the door, and carrying armloads of bags.

If you’re walking for those 11 hours, you can burn about 1800 calories (based on a 140 pound woman)! It’s even more if you walk briskly. Not bad for a few trips out to the mall.

Just be sure to smart decisions at the food court.

The poll was done on behalf of Pay Pal Canada.
