I have always been a weight gainer over the summer and come the firstweek of September I could never get my jeans on. This is alwaysfollowed by weeks of dieting, etc. and by Novemberish, the jeansfinally fit for a few weeks—at least until Christmas comes.

Yesterday I hauled out the jeans. I had this big stare-off with thembefore I put them on… “Mr. Jeans,” I have been working to stay fit thissummer, you know that I have been more focused on my health… so,“Mr.,” you better fit. And they did! They FIT! And were comfortabletoo! This is the first time in years, and years, I don’t have to do theget-slim routine again on September 1 (or lie on the bed with a coathanger trying to get the zipper up to pretend they fit).

September always feels a bit like a “new year” to me. The vacations are over, the brain is refocused forward, and we make fall activity plans. My goals for the fall are:

a) to increase my fitness level and do at least 3 hours a week ofexercise (this is the minimum required for all women to fend off orreduce their chances of getting breast cancer and it also helps toreduce heart disease, diabetes, etc., etc.)

b) to haul out the recipe books and find a couple of new familyfavourite meals, with a focus on adding more veggies into our eatingplan

c) to plan some relaxing time each day

Did I tell you that the JEANS FIT… oh my, my… I just may have to goshopping to celebrate! I think a saw a fabulous pair of shoes thatwould go with my jeans… and maybe a sweater to top it all off!

Life is good,
