I always wanted to try Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. Not only because the thought of brown sugar reminds me of my grandmother’s brown sugar porridge and tea’her ultimate remedy for tummy aches and menstrual pain’but because Fresh pioneered modern sugar scrubs when it launched theirs in 1999.

So, into the shower I went. What I imagined to be a fine sugary scrub with a sweet fragrance turned out to be larger sugar crystals merged under a layer of citrus scented oils. I took a generous scoop of sugar into the palm of my hand and applied it along my body while scrubbing in a circular motion. The larger crystals worked in my favour, as I was able to control the depth of my exfoliation on the sensitive and rough areas of my skin. Be warned, this stuff makes the bath and shower slippery. However, it was worth every bit because my skin absorbed the oil so well I didn’t even have to put on any lotion afterwards’now that’s a first!

With summer around the corner and wearing sunscreen, using a scrub after a trip to the beach or running around town on a hot sweaty day should be a must. It’s true that you can make your own sugar scrub, but it is always good to spoil yourself once in a while. ($75)
