Watching horror movies can cause a panic – so filming one must be infinitely more stressful.
To get through production on her latest movie Mother! (definitely one of the scariest movies of the year, if not in history), Jennifer Lawrence had to create a safe space to help her de-stress and relax.
However, her safe space wasn’t filled with flowers and candles, it was filled with Kardashians.
How Jennifer Lawrence de-stresses
JLaw has never hid her love for the famous family, and admitted that it was the only thing that could get her out of her head (and out of character) when she was filming the terrorizing movie.
Opening up to Vogue, Lawrence explained that the crew assembled a “Kardashian tent” for her to get away, which was filled with pictures of the family and a TV that had Keeping up with the Kardashians playing on a loop. The Oscar-winning actress described the tent as her “happy place.”
While JLaw is obviously a big fan, her new boyfriend, 47-year-old Darren Aronofsky couldn’t quite relate to her process. Insisting he had no part in the tent, he said, “I wasn’t involved in that. I was like, “What are you talking about, ‘the Kardashians?”‘
What is a “happy place?”
While a Kardashian room may not be your idea of a “happy place,” there is something about creating a haven to unwind and relax. Whether it’s in your home or a favourite yoga studio or your local park, taking a step away from your daily life and a few minutes to focus on yourself can do wonders for your mental health. Studies have shown that taking some quiet time calms the mind, boosts creativity and actually makes us smarter and happier humans.
If you’re not hitting up an exercise class, try doing nothing or meditating, both of which have been shown to help reduce stress.
