Why We Need Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington’s New Startup

“Change is desperately needed if another generation is to avoid the burnout that all too often comes with success today,” says Huffington.

The glorification of being busy is taking its toll on our health, which is why we couldn’t be more excited about Arianna Huffington’s new well-being and productivity startup, Thrive Global.

Earlier today, Huffington announced that she’s stepping down as editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post in order to dedicate time to this new venture.

“Thrive Global’s mission is to change the way we work & live by ending the collective delusion that burnout is a necessary price for success,” she tweeted. The aim of Thrive Global is to reduce stress and exhaustion, which will help individuals work more productively and effectively.

The Importance of Leading a Balanced Life

There’s absolutely no reason to think that having an overbooked schedule and being constantly stressed is key to getting ahead. In fact, multiple studies show that when health and well-being are made a priority, employee performance improves.

And with 1 in 4 Canadian workers reporting that they’re highly stressed, our work performance (not to mention our health!) is at risk. “Change is desperately needed if another generation is to avoid the burnout that all too often comes with success today,” says Huffington.

Thrive Global plans to spearhead this change by using a practical approach to training, seminars, e-courses and coaching on how people can live a well-balanced life. The program will be based on the latest research from experts in neuroscience, psychology, productivity, sports and sleep.

A Work-Life Balance Advocate

This isn’t the first time the media mogul has ventured into the world of health and wellness. In 2016, Huffington released a book called The Sleep Revolution where she promoted the importance of getting a full night’s sleep.

Last year, Huffington’s book Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom and Wonder, laid out steps on how to create a more meaningful, balanced lifestyle.

“Since publishing Thrive and then The Sleep Revolution, I’ve dreamt of taking the next big step to help transform the way we work and live,” said Huffington.

Thrive Global is planning to launch this fall, following the U.S presidential elections in November. We can’t wait to see what Huffington has in store!
