There’s a large group of people – celebrities included – who believe that marijuana is a great natural medicine that helps cure whatever ails you. And with Ontario’s recent announcement to open 150 legal cannabis dispensers, it looks to becoming more mainstream. From Lady Gaga to Whoopi Goldberg, here are seven celebs who are lighting up and speaking out for the legalization of cannabis.
Celebrities and weed: Lady Gaga
Like many around the world, Gaga’s support of marijuana comes down to her health. In her new documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, the singer talks about suffering from chronic joint and hip pain and post traumatic stress disorder, and how much the drug’s helped her.
Celebrities and weed: Miley Cyrus
Though she recently gave it all up, Miley Cyrus is a very staunch supporter of cannabis and the legalization of marijuana. She once called it “the best drug on earth” and told fans to smoke weed instead of cigarettes because “weed has never killed anybody.”

Celebrities and weed: Whoopi Goldberg
The View co-host has been smoking weed for years to help with headaches and glaucoma. She recently even launched her own line of medical marijuana, Whoopi & Maya, specifically developed to help with menstrual cramps.
Celebrities and weed: Snoop Dogg
Word on the street is that Snoop smokes a whopping 81 blunts each day. The rapper is one of the original marijuana supporters, regularly smoking in his music videos and on stage during concert tours.

Celebrities and weed: Melissa Etheridge
Etheridge, a breast cancer survivor, has been a cannabis activist since she started using the drug in 2005 to treat the side effects of chemotherapy. She now has her own company, Etheridge Farms, that produces legal cannabis products in California.
Celebrities and weed: Rihanna
The pop star has never been one to shy away from controversy – and that includes her regular drug use. Before it was common to see celebrities lighting up, you could always catch Rihanna with a joint in hand on her social media channels.
