Eyeshadow

Day: If you’re heading to the office before a big holiday party, here’s an easy daytime look for your eyes: Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, wash the lightest eyeshadow shade in the palette from lash to brow; then choose a medium-toned shade to enhance your crease (keep moving your brush back and forth until the colour is blended evenly) and your top lash line.

Night: “Mix a medium and dark shade together to use in your crease, and then line both your top and bottom lash line with the darker colour,” says celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh. If you want to add a pop of colour or shine, dab a jewel-toned shadow, such as plum or green, onto your lid or along your bottom lash line. Tip: Dampen your brush slightly when adding shadow to the lash line so it picks up more pigment.

Highlighter

Day: Add a light, shimmery shade to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, your browbone, above your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and just above and below the centre of your lips, which will make them look fuller. “Think of the highlighter almost like a line from your nose down,” says Quynh.

Night: Add a dab of sparkle to the inner corners of your eyes or on the centre of your lids behind your lashes to really brighten your eyes. Pair this look with a nude or rosy lip and consider yourself ready to stash your palette and leave your nine-to-five behind.

Lips

Day: Keep them neutral with a swipe of gloss.

Night: “For the holidays, it’s nice to either dress up your eyes or don a festive lip colour, depending on what you’re wearing,” says Quynh. Pair a bold lip colour from the palette with the daytime eye makeup you’ve already created for a fresh-faced look (and a more casual shindig).
