The best way to go sight-seeing

I recently went away for a weekend and it was a whirlwind vacation in Boston. My boyfriend and I few in on the Friday morning and left on the Sunday night. It was jam-packed with stereotypical touristy activities, including eating out at the most reputable restaurants, drinking wine, strolling along the high-end shop street (which is Newbury Street), even taking in a tour. But this was no ordinary tour.

The Urban AdvenTours biking tour of Boston was truly the most fun we had those three days. (That’s me up there, having fun in my bike helmet.)

Starting at 10 am, our guides, Greg, Baylor and Mehdi, lead our 21-rider group through the woven side streets of little Italy, into a posh neighbourhood where Senator John Kerry is said to live (didn’t see him), along the waterfront across from MIT, outside the Garden and Fenway, in front the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, at the Church of Christ Scientist headquarters, into Boston Common park, near the Boston Public Library McKim Building in Copley Square and onto the docks and Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.

I saw Boston like I would have never seen it on my own. Instead of smelling of exhaust from a double-decker bus with a squeaky sound system, I peddalled my way through the city. Urban AdvenTours provided the helmets, water and bikes. I brought my energy to push through 150 minutes of cycling.

And since we had built up our hunger, we both already decided on a place in Little Italy for lunch as we rode through it.

Check out some of the pictures (see if you can spot me!).

It was amazing! For my next trip, to explore new perspectives, I’m going zip-lining. I’ve decided. Who’s in?
