This Elderberry Cocktail Requires a Little Patience But It’s Definitely Worth It

The perfect way to add a real dose of health to your cocktail.

An alcohol-based infusion takes fives minutes to prepare and four weeks of patience until it’s ready. But it’s worth it. Making your own infused alcohol is an easy way to add a real dose of health to your beverages. This isn’t a heath-washing of cocktails; this is legit. Elderberries are rich in antioxidants and have long been used in treatments for the influenza virus, among other illnesses.

  1. Mix, serve and enjoy!
Elderberry Vodka
  1. In a clean Mason jar, add elderberries.
  2. Fill the jaw with vodka.
  3. Place a small square of unbleached parchment paper over the jar opening; seal with a lid (this will help keep the alcohol from making contact with the plastic lid).
  4. Give your mixture a shake once or twice a day for 4 weeks.
  5. Once your infusion is ready, strain out the berries and store the infused alcohol in a dropper bottle to use as a tincture or a jar if using for cocktails.
