Get moving!

You don't need to log hours at the gym to sneak some extra exercise into your day. In fact, there are many ways you can burn calories just by doing everyday activities. The key, according to Toronto-based personal trainer Kathleen Trotter, is to remember that calories burned will depend on your weight, the intensity of the exercise, and the duration of the activity. Read on to find out some of the best calorie-torching activities*, with variations from the most amount of time required to the least. Start with an easier activity and add intensity or duration as you progress.

Just the type of calories that you intake is not a sole contributor to burning weight, it is a key component so you get 1 point. But, saying that calories in calories out means nothing deducts that point because if you cut the amount of calories that you normally intake in a day there are 3500 calories to a lb, you will be losing lbs, you will not be losing weight from water or losing muscle, so what else beside those do you think it is possible for you to be losing? Think hard. Also increasing your exercise doesn't help when added to eating less? I've never heard that either. I didn't change the types of food that I ate I changed the amount and my excercise and lost 70lbs in the last year, but i guess that wasn't fat, i guess i was jsut retaining a lot more water than normal people right?

There was a great Saturday Night Live skit on this very topic. When the health counsellors dumbed down the message for the exceedingly reluctant client, it came out as "Eat less; do more !" The client still didn't get it, but I did. Fifteen ponds lost; fifteen more to go !

Words to live by !

my advice for everyone who wants to be fit and healthy,,chose the sport or the workout which fits you and do it every day,,I am 65 years,,I excercise all year around and daily,,I chose indoor biking from september till end of may,,and outdoor long sistance biking, walking from may till september,so far I am in my 146 thousand km indoor biking after 16 years,,we can all find 30-45 minutes every day if we are serious about our health

Well, duh, imagine my surprise to learn that any kind of movement uses calories. Never would have guessed that one! Come on, surely you can do better than this

Too bad that the mainstream hasn't caught up with current nutritional biochemistry. Calories in calories out means nothing when it comes to burning fat. Eating less and moving more doesn't work for fat burning....which is why everyone is still obese and sick!
Fat storage is regulated by HORMONES. What KIND of calories you eat is what matters. Sugar, grains, starch, soy & veggie oils(not olive) are feeding all the diseases of metabolism. Don't eat these foods and you will become a fat burner. No calorie counting required. "Human beings are not bomb calorimeters" ~ Dr Matt LaLonde

You can lose weight by going swimming on a regular basis and you will keep fit as a fiddle.

Why don't you people come up with some new ideas on this subject. It's alwayas same old, same old.

How about makin' love for and hour ? How many calories does one burn doin' that ?

These are wonderful tips. Doing little things each day turns out to mean a lot. My work is home-based, so I try to get myself active all throughout the day. I also try to find some time for dancing, as I’ve learned that it burns as much as 400 calories an hour. I’ve been doing zumba through Dance Fitness.com, and coupled with moderated eating habits, the result is amazing. But I need to do more, so I’ll try your suggestions.

Easy to achieve!
