Take our quiz to find out if your diet is putting you at risk for type 2 diabetes
Slide 1 of 15

Is your diet putting you at risk?

t's no secret that being overweight is a risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes. According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, (CDA) 80 to 90 percent of people with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese and more than 20 Canadians are diagnosed with the disease every hour of every day.

But did you know that you can reduce your own risk? The CDA says more than 50 percent of type 2 diabetes diagnoses could be prevented or delayed with healthier eating and increased physical activity

Take our quiz to assess your diet (keep track of your points); and discover how you can avoid or delay diabetes by eating healthier.

I was a type 2 diabetic for over 10 years. I had to have surgery so I went on the "Ideal Protein" food plan. After reduucing my weight to around 175 lbs I was tested and am now not on any diabetic medications.
It can be done... as I was one of those that thought once you became type 2 that was it you would be the rest of your life. Shows thats not always the case.

How dare you portray a child poking herself with a needle to draw attention to an ad for Type 2 Diabetes. As a parent of a Type 1 Diabetic child I constantly deal with the incorrect assumptions that we caused our child's diabetes by not providing her with proper nutrition. TYPE 1 DIABETES IS AN AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE AND CANNOT BE PREVENTED. Without insulin injections Type 1 Diabetics would die!!! This disease does happen in adults, but the majority of cases are children, including infants. No one has 'DIABETES', they have Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. These kids have enough to deal with! Shame on you!!!

This quiz will certainly put you in the ballpark. The message from the quiz is that you get diabetes because you are fat from being a lazy glutton and eat bad food. My understanding of the of the problem is that consuming sugars, starches and carbohydrates will raise blood glucose levels. When the body cannot store any more glucose and insulin is ineffective you are called insulin resistant ie. diabetic. The recommendation to eat more fruit, vegetables and healthy grains which are composed of carbohydrates might be going in the wrong direction. The bodies energy needs can come from protein, fats and carbohyrates. Protein is required for body repair and should not be consumed in excess. Now if fat is reduced the bulk of energy will be supplied by carbohydrates, the cause of diabetes . What should we fear, fat or carbohydrates?

What a stupid quiz. I scored 29 points getting an answer implying I'm overweight when I'm not. I eat very healthy and keep a nice variety in my meals that I cook at home. Don't bother with this quiz, waste of time!

I am diabetic and I found your survey describes me to a tea.
