I have been desperately searching to beat heart disease. It appears to me that there is only one cause of heart disease and that is GLUCOSE. But don't we need glucose for energy and our brains need glucose? The answer seems to be NO. Energy can be produced from fat and the brain's glucose requirement can also be produced from fat.
There is no requirement to ingest carbohydrates. When glucose enters the bloodstream the pancreas produces insulin to signal fat cells to store the glucose as fat and the muscle cells to burn glucose for energy. The reason is that GLUCOSE is TOXIC. All cells that metabolise glucose produce METHYLGLYOXAL which affects the cell's viability. Therefore to beat heart one must keep blood glucose levels as low as possible especially postprandially. Fasting glucose levels are misleading unless your are diabetic. Get a glucose monitor to check how your eating habits influence your glucose levels. You could be heading towards diabetes without being aware of it. Unfortunately this method of avoiding heart disease will only work for people who are willing to take control of their own health. For the 15 recommendation in the article- what do they do to your glucose level?
