I make a smoothie for my breakfast most days. I usually use whey protein powder, but one or two raw eggs can also be used to add protein. Instead of dairy milk or yogurt, people with lactose intolerance (or not) will enjoy almond milk - it tastes great. I use Silk - True Almond, unsweetened, and at 30 calories per cup it is delicious. Or, I sometimes use orange juice as the base, especially with fresh pineapple and banana - a very tropical treat. Frozen berries are a mainstay in any smoothie, both for taste and nutritional benefits.
I don't seem to use up my spinach fast enough so I blanch it for about 2 minutes in boiling water and plunge it into cold water to stop the cooking. I just want it limp.. I stuff them into ice cube trays and cover with some of the water from the pot. I do the same with Kale and put both in my smoothies no matter what flavour. I use a magic bullet and it blends it right up no problem and I can still drink it with a straw and with the magic bullet. I use the container as my cup and off I go to work.
