Why do they alwways say delicious are not good for cooking? I use them in pies and everybody loves them. You can add less sugar because of their sweetness and there is lest waste because of the small core.
Further to the comment about commercial pies. I don't know what kind of apples they use but they are never cooked enough for me.
They are all much too sweet. We teach our kids that sweet is Ok or even good by this sort of nonsense. A good healthy apple is much more sour than any of these and will start to go brown while you are eating it. That's OK. Problem is noone sells them anymore.
You know, I feel that it has come to a point that you don't really know who to trust with our food regarding its growth and processing. There is so much greed in the almighty dollar, that people in business will do anything, and I mean anything to scam our money and give us food filled with all kinds of crap, ....cides and whatnot. Government as well just don't care, since they are getting a cut of this greed in the form of taxes. The whole system is soooo corrupt. Question is.. HOW DO WE RIGHT THIS? I guess that if we don't care, in that case we get what we deserve. And that is what we have now. Aint gonna change, until we decide we have had enough, and at some point in time, that may be too late. There should be no such thing as good foods or bad foods. Food is food and all of it should be properly grown and fit for human consumption. So for those who agree... please raise your hand. Now let's do something about it. Complain, complain and complain some more at every opportunity you can. It's better than doing nothing at all.
It has been years since I have had a decent apple pie. All restaurants and bakeries seem to be using Granny Smith apples instead of McIntosh. The g.s. apples are hard and pale when baked and would it kill them to add some cinnamon? I suspect these are canned apples from China. I am going to bake my own.
