**Quinoa is technically a seed, not a grain. It comes from the goosefoot plant. A lot a people mistakenly refer to Quinoa as a grain because it is used and cooked like one. Quinoa is gluten free and is a great source of protein. I personnally like to use it instead of rice or couscous. Quinoa does not have a strong flavor, but will absorb the flavor of whatever you are cooking it with. Goes to show how much research they did...
When will you guys stop pushing wheat? Same question to Canadian Government and it's Canada Food guide. The wheat that is grown now does not even resemble the wheat from 50years ago. Years of genetic engineering, insecticides, herbicides, non-organic fertilizers, etc, etc, have left this "grain" addictive, and dangerous. Stop with the grain nonsense.
There is substantial proof that our diet was never meant to include grains. Furthermore, cultivation of monocrops (wheat, oats, barly, corn et al) are destroying our topsoil. This is an ecological disaster in the making that makes global warming pale by comparison. Best Health needs to start re-evaluating the "conventional wisdom" on diet and health that is based on bad science.
Human beings have evolved for millions of years without consuming most grains. (There is no tree that blooms a loaf of bread). This is why we are not equipped to digest them properly.
Stick to meats, fish, fruits, nuts and seeds if you want to become healthy.

I agree with the writer, my husband is taking oat meat every morning he is still over weight and has a big belly. Hes also careful with his diet.
That stuff should come with a "Surgeon Generals warning" According to the dr. who wrote the best selling book "Wheat Belly"
I am living proof that eating oatmeal was not benefical to me. At home we ate oatmeal every morning especially in the winter months. I had to have my gallbladder removed at age 21. A huge gallstone blocked the bile duct. I made medical history in my small local hospital. I didn't fix the textbook data. Thought was was just anorexic. Of course I looked like it too. No food would stay down.
