Processed foods generally contain MSG (monosodium glutimate) which almost doubles the sodium count and can cause side effects, like headaches and digestive problems, for some people. I would not substitute any form of 'diet' pop. Why not a glass of water! Water doesn't have the ingredient 'Aspartame' which has been challenged for whether is should have a place in our food chain.
Every dollar we spend is a vote! Vote carefully for what is safe to eat and the rest should remain on the shelves. If it doesn't sell, they will stop making it.
I'm always for less salt in my food. Most foods are too salty & it ruins the flavor of what it is. I wish these co's would stop adding so much to everything.:[
Maybe we should lower our intake of corporate sponsorship. Shame.
Why not eliminate ALL canned and processed foods, no matter how minimal the sodium content is.
Hubby and I are following a very healthy cardiac menue, where EVERYTHING is prepared from 'scratch' PERIOD!!!
Together with a low glycemic food intake, these two combined can eliminate serious heart problems. You just have to accept a healthy life style and stick to it.
