How healthy is your favourite ice cream?

Just how many calories are in that cool treat? Find out how each of these six varieties compare
Slide 1 of 8

Cool scoops

One must have a frozen treat in this weather—preferably, often. But do you know what you're getting yourself into with the various types available? We compared a few in measures of 3/4 cup (175 mL) each.

Tip: Using a tiny spoon can help you slow down and savour each bite.

Some one forgot to factor in sugars and starches. Starches are here to fool us into creamier ice cream. Than later on convert themselves into sugar. Here we go ,and more and more sugar. Life is sweet for some of us.

Where are all the lovely flavours of Lactose free ice cream?
Pralines and Cream from Kawartha Dairy would be wonderful to start with. Oh, I know there is vanilla available, it just gets so boring, as does
sorbet, in any flavour.

Like other posters said, why the heck was yogurt and sorbet included in this blog??!! Eat whatever you want but don't say that ice cream is healthy (whatever kind). Just look at the saturated fat listed here. Feel like ice cream? Learn to like frozen yogurt and sorbet - you will after a while, and your tummy & thighs will thank you for it.

This is a horrible review, it tells you how many calories and grams of fat and completely leaves out other ingredients such as what is used as the sweetener, sugar, dextrose, organic ingredients or not. This is like telling me that sandpaper has paper in it.

Like another poster said, the piece did say ice cream. You included sorbet, yogurt, gelato & soy here, they are not ice cream albeit they are better for us.
If you say ice cream then say ice cream. Let's be honest.
We all know those others have fewer calories, really.
I expected to get the goods on different makes of ice cream.
what a time waster.

My choice of icecream is Safe Ways Butter Pecan made by Safe Way. Best icecream i have ever tasted. If they ever quit i will have a FITT

Honestly, I wouldn't really worry about the fat content too much.
Sugar is what we should be looking at, it turns into fat in our bodies if we don't burn it off after all.
And because ice cream is cold and cold things don't taste as much, there's a LOT of sugar in most ice creams.
Thanks! :)

Eye-roll! What is the sugar content? Please stop misleading people into believing that low calorie is healthy. Not everything that is low fat is good. Most products that are lower in fat use more sugar to compensate taste. Fat is actually useful to the body and sugar does nothing but strip nutrients you need and ad on body fat. If you want ice cream 'So Delicious' has a coconut ice cream that is sweetened with agave which is lower glycemic. They even have ice cream bars!

This item implies that all ice creams by all makers are the same.....far from true. Not very helpful.

tell me now!

The title of this piece says ICE CREAM _ How did Sorbet etc get into the comparison.
Another websit page filler of no consequence.

I love sorbert. Some types are creamier than others but not sure why?

It look yummy but not my fav and it heatly too
