Eating before bed isn't bad for you, because it gives your body something to break down during the night. It's not like your body stops working when you sleep, so even if you eat after 7, you'll still break it down and keep your metabolism going.
Do people still believe the 7:00 rule? Your stomach doesn't know the difference between eating at 7 AM and 7 PM. There's no scientific basis for it; it's really only for people who like to snack after dinner and may do so uncontrollably. It's good to set a limit for yourself, but people shouldn't follow it unnecessarily. if you're active after dinner or are a shift worker, it's not a crime to eat later -- just as long as you're making a health/calorie conscious choice.
