Most parents cannot use these recipes are school is totally nut free and we could not send walnut bread or walnut granola bars how are these school friendly lunches. Also some of the recipes are also not lunch friendly how to do you serve the grilled cheese sandwhich or meatballs when the most kids do not have access to a microwave at there school.

these look great for healthy families - its true unhealthy kids are brought up by unhealthy parents so - it is up to the parent to integrate them into healthy. Telling anyone its healthy that is not into healthy is what you DON'T do - obviously from some of the comments. Hormones can really disconnect many and usually this is due to lack of whole food nutrition. I suggest parents and kids to eat these and go from there.

seriously! i am 12 and i think i could be the smartest one here! you people are just going to search up websites for healthy food and then realize you dont like these items that apparently other people in the world do and comment crap about there choices that they wanted to share? if you dont have anything nice to say it , don't say it! i think once in a while people should keep there thought to them selves! i am not fond of these choices but im not going to waste my time commenting what i dont like about these choices! but, yeah i am going to sit here and post what i personally think you people should change. it's one thing if you say: cool ideas maybe narrow down a bit on the "every peice of food has to be super healthy part" and then i woul absoulutely try some of these things. but, it is another if you say: this is not good, would you change this to something my kids would eat! besides if it is two healthy or not a combo you like then simply move on look at different sites or take parts of the ingredients and create something thaat suites you! there is lots of things that would be better than all the things i have seen here! that's my opinion!

Just because kids don't like healthy foods other than mcd's or KD..it does NOT make them Brats. What a thing to say to parents who are obviously searching for healthier options for the children that they love.
I myself have Two kids who will eat absolutely anything I put in front of them. I also have a third child who refuses to eat anything other than Mc'donalds or KD. It does not make her a Brat.

Us parents who are here to look for better options to offer our kids, are here because we love our children. Yeah some ingredients wont fly with kids, but we'd never know unless we try.
I offer my kids things like broccoli and other healthy foods they dislike, when we have been out past lunch and they are super hungry or on other days where they cant wait for supper. It has converted two of them into liking the healthy stuff. One of my kids is just set in her ways for now. I was set in my ways as a child and as an adult, its like night and day. I eat pretty much anything now. I believe it takes 18 tries for the taste buds to like cewrtain foods and taste buds change :) So there's hope for the fellow parents out there!

Get real people. Back in the olden days portion sizes where way smaller than today .. And food choices where healthier than today. So I go on this website and many others because I want to try something that I know I will feel good afterwards and not eat a bag of chips which will make me feel even worse. These are healthy seggestions, something that will change your mind. So it kind of sucks to hear that none of you appreciate what these people have to offer. And I'm not obbsesed with "Healthy-Ness" but perhaps I could give up something that I ate before and eat something that makes Me Happy!

Okay, you people are ridiculous. I'm 14 and if I had all of the ingredients these would be amazing, to say that children would not eat this is stupid and if your little brats can't appreceate a good meal when it's given to them they need to be cuffed upside the head. Seriously, if lots of kids had the time and didn't want to talk to their friends for most of the time they would probably enjoy these.

what kind of poop is this? like seriously, i wouldn't even eat that, not even my dog would!for gosh sakes not even godzilla would it this cra*

OOOH my, who are these parents that CAN'T feed this to the kids??? If all you feed them is KD and McDonald's, how are they supposed to like other things? My son who is now 4 was fed real food like veggies, meat, cheese, etc. and was basically fed anything we ate. He now eats 99.9% of what we give him. His favourite veggie is broccoli(cooked or raw), he loves eating at our favourite sushi restaurant and is fond of mild hot peppers or light hot sauce on his shawerma(a middle-eastern meat wrap). If you look around the world, where food is sometimes a luxury, people don't feed their kids separate meals, or give them a bowl of cereal if they don't eat dinner, children are happy to have things like lamb stew, enchiladas, homous, couscous, curry, veggie tourine, rice dishes and yes, even SALAD!!! I know a lot of you are busy, but really, this sounds like little Jimmy rules the roost.

My sons would die of embarrassment if they had to unpack any of those options! Get real.

What planet are these writers on. Trying to get kids to eat healthy is a hard task but these meal ideas are completely ridiculous. Why don't yopu try and come up with reasonable easy to make healthy food ideas that kids will actually eat.......

Hhahahahahaahah, funny. These are for the Teachers, right>?

The article misses a few important points like school rules, but I get it, its lunch ideas. so what if you can't do them all, but maybe the point is to try giving your kids something fresh and tasty rather than laden with saturated and trans fats. We have tried a couple of the receipies and my kids love them and will be taken them to school, along with some modified versions of others. My daughter is in kindergarten and looks forward to taking them to school. While we don't rule out the ocassional junk food. We are very strict with most foods in our house. Contrary to popular belief kids can learn to love foods that are good for them. Mine do.

Is this a joke? My son, loves red and green peppers but when it comes to his lunches he still prefers a plain old cheese sandwich.

This is the most ridiculous display of lunch items for kids that I have ever seen - are you people serious - we are talking about kids here - If you are making these for university students - perhaps, but my child goes to public school and I can confidently say that he would not appreciate any of the above recipes, furthermore - some of these recipes are alot of trouble to make for working parents only to receive the remnants of the main dish all over the inside of their lunch box. If you are going to help out parents with healthy back to school ideas, please make them plausible, easy and nut free and something they can eat at school. Thank you

p.s. how they received 3 stars for each is beyond me, my guess is whoever came up with these recipes and votes, had no children

I have to say that I WISH my children would eat these wonderful lunch suggestions....unfortunately their tastes are for McDonalds & Kraft Dinner! My husband is even an Executive Chef and there is no way that we could convince our children to eat anything even the slightest gourmet unless it was more child friendly like the basic chicken nuggets (yuck!). We are desperate to have our children eat vegetables or anything that has fresh flavour to it.....I am not sure if you tested these recipes on any children but if you found some kids that actually eat this way, I would like to know what those parents are doing better than I am!

Oh my, don't these just remind you of the horrible "healthy" meals our parents use to pack us with, telling us we'd like it if we just tried it (I did. I was one of the kids that took at least 3 bites of everything. NO, WRONG.) Then you were either throwing it away, so you could beg pretending you had no lunch, or attempted to trade and got nothing back.

I found some I'm going to try for myself, but I'm a realist: I can force my kids to try it at dinner, or even eat the whole thing, but I have to accommodate their tastes at lunch or they just won't eat it at all. Even if that means a ton of ranch dressing in a container for their veggies.

I agree that most children would not enjoy many of these recipes. Also the biggest problem is keeping food hot in a thermos or ensuring the sandwich is not soggy. These recipes are better ideas for eating at home when it is made fresh!!

My kids are not likely to eat any of these the way they are. They look like good lunches for myself though.... Did anybody actually try these out on kids?

Some schools are "nut safe", but there are many schools across the country where nuts are allowed and I appreciate some recipes that include nuts. In the case of the two recipes listed, it would be easy to substitute something else.

I appreciate making accommodations for nut allergies, but that doesn't mean that articles should not include recipes with nuts in them either.

Two of the above recipes contain nuts. In Ontario, schools are "nut safe" due to serious allergies. I imagine there are similar laws/rules around the country. Please do not send lunches containing nuts to school with your children!

One star for the inconvenient format.
