What time of day do you prefer to exercise?

I'm an afternoon exerciser: I love how an after-work fitness session gives my brain a break, and it's when I have the most energy. But I know it's sometimes easier to fit a morning workout into my schedule - and it's a lot cooler outside! - so I try to run before work once in a while too.

What about you? When do you prefer to exercise?

Lunch and After Work

In my ideal world, I would get up an hour early to exercise, however my body refuses to leave the comfort of my bed that early! I like to do my cardio at lunch hour as it forces me to leave my office and get away from the stresses of my job for an hour. After work, I put on a P90X DVD and exercise with my three personal trainers - our cats. Believe me, after a P90X work-out, I am really careful about what I make for dinner!!!

I find that if I exercise in the morning, I get it done. If I leave it to the afternoon or evening, sometimes I just don't bother. :(

When I'm working, I like to work out at my lunch break. I have a very high-stress job, so I'm able to release some of the stress in a healthy way, and stand under the shower for a relaxing and revitalizing massage afterward. Once done, I have a good meal, and am ready to face the rest of the day ... without the afternoon slump!

I'd rather exercise after work and before dinner. Get outside and play some b-ball yo!!!!

Evening Walks

So I am going back to work on Friday and I need to change my exercise routine (ha) I decided to walk alone from 7:30 - 8:00 each night, tongith was night 2! Hotter then heck outside but what a great feeling once I am done !

When to exercise

I think I would love to workout in the mornings, before the kids wake up, but realistically, I would have to get up WAY too early:)
I exercise when there is opportunity; sometimes it's during the day, but mostly it's in the evenings. I don't feel like I have to exercise at a certain time of the day or even every day, but it feels good when I can make time for it - that's for sure!

I work shift work. Sometimes I start my shift really early in the morning, on those days I have to work out in the evening. But on the days I start my shift in the evening I work out in the morning, which I prefer, I definatly to have more energy before work!

I love to wake up early and walk/run before the kids & DH wake up. The dogs and I enjoy our quiet time together and I feel energized for the day!

Morning

I find it a little difficult some mornings to get up - I feel like I am dragging myself to the gym. But once I get going, I am pumped and I feel better as the workout progresses. For the rest of the day I know that I have done at least one good thing for myself towards my ultimate goal of getting healthier. I have made a commitment to myself to get in an easy workout after dinner instead of TV - maybe go for a walk with my dogs, go for a swim ...

Time of Day

While I do prefer to exercise in the morning (I feel the most energized at that time) I usually end up, during the week anyway, exercising at night. On weekends though, I usually get my workout in during the AM.

I don't particularly like to

I don't particularly like to exercise at all :-) BUT if I've been getting up at 5:00 am and I'm at the gym at 5:30 for my workout. The way I see if it - I get it done and out of the way...if nothing else goes right all day at least I can say - "well, I got my workout in today"

morning exercise

I really know how you feel about not liking exercise at all. I have to make myself do it and I have found that the best time for me is a nice walk after supper in the evening. It's a little cooler and it is quite lovely. I have to actually start doing it now!.....

My boyfriend and I have been making a habit of evening walks and it's a lovely way to relax before bed, especially when it's dark out. Much healthier than sitting in front of a screen! -Kat Tancock, senior web editor

That's amazing Kat! I was thinking at first it might be nice by myself activity but we have made this a family affair even the dogs enjoy our time together. I am also find that we are all sleeping through the night. Mind you this is only our first week back at school so we will see what happens next week!

Preferred time of day to exercise

Even though it is hard to get out of bed I love to exercise in the morning. Starting my day at the gym sets my whole day off on the right foot! I feel my body burning calories all day long! I do enjoy evening classes sometimes too, but overall I am a morning exerciser. I just bought a bicycle so I am hoping to go for bike rides in the evening!! Yippee!!

You're right, I always feel

You're right, I always feel good mentally when I exercise in the morning. But it makes me so hungry all day! Do you find that?

Morning Exercise

I hate mornings and trying to work out early is very difficult for me. I prefer to exercise in the evening or at night. I find it helps me relax and sleep better. Plus I sleep through the post workout cravings, and wake up actually wanting breakfast.

Best time of day to exercise

I can't seem to clear the sleep out of my eyes for early morning workouts. I prefer to exercise after work or on weekends when I have more time and can sleep in a bit.

Ultimatley I would love to exercise in the morning. But reality...I have to do it when I have an extra minute in the day. With 2 young children and a full time job, it is a challenge to fit it in.

There have been times when I am doing my work out at 10pm. But then there are times when it is 6am.
