Plate Clean up Issues!
Sherrie - August 13, 2010 - 05:28
I find that I rarely have time to sit down and eat with my 3 monkeys. So I hover while they eat, then finish up what they have not finished on their plates. This is terrible habit, anyone have any suggestions how to eliminate this problem? Tips/tricks ideas?

Thanks Kat! Your advice is the best as I don't really like to waist food and that's why I eat the leftovers. Why I didn't think about it on my own...? So simple :)
give them less?
I'm not a parent so definitely not an expert. :) But if they always have food left on their plates, maybe give them less on smaller plates? they can always ask for more, right? (Also: it's not a waste not to eat it! It's a waste when it gets added to your hips!) -Kat Tancock, senior web editor
Tried it !
After reading your suggestion I really took a minute to see what I was actually setting on my children's plates during dinner. I guess I have always felt a full plate = a full tummy.
I decided to put 1/2 of what I would normally put on the plate and put the cut up veggies & dip in the centre of the table. I told all three monkeys they could always ask for seconds. This is day 3 and everything seems to be working in my favour!
Thanks Kat! Loving the forums and feedback from everyone!
Eating kids' leftovers
I sometimes eat the kids' leftovers too. Gross because it's usually really cold be then... I've found two tricks to stopping this bad habit: #1 Get someone else to clear the table. #2 Scrape the leftovers into the garbage immediately.
Hope this helps!!

I have a friend who when she feels full she put's an "over amount" of salt on what she does not want to pick at... so I tryed and it really works (as long as you don't want to keep the leftovers).
Excellent Idea!
Thanks for that very simple yet very effective tip, I tried it tonight with the homemade Mac and Cheese, worked like a charm! Thank you!
