Anti-Depressants - Life Changing but...
Sherrie - August 01, 2010 - 10:22
Hello All! I'm here to get motivated to loose the 60 lbs I lost a few years ago and gained back. I finally got help for a life long battle with OCD soon after I lost the weight (and really, anyone can loose weight when you're relegated to salad and cereal due to a fear of using the stove, toaster, kettle, microwave...! Need to do this the normal healthy way this time!) and while the little white pill has saved my life I do find that it has made me into a bit of a sleep hog! Has anyone else experienced the same? How did you get through that challenge?

Little White Pill
The little white pill definetely helps, especially during menopause. It is just enough to get you through the times when everything seems to get you down, but your not sure why. Fatigue is a #1 issue for me and most women who have worked and raised a family at the same time. I got through it though and am now retired, which really helps when you find your a sleep hog and just need that sleep. Try another version of the little white pill, mine did not make me sleep more. Fatigue and lack of sleep was always my #1 enemy in life though.
Anti-Depressant- Life Changing but...
I need to lose a considerable amount of weight. I've been taking anti-depressants for the last 5 years and have experienced a range of things: over-sleeping, under-sleeping, anxiety, zombie mode, and so much more. Things have stabilized more lately....but I've packed on some extra ME. LOL
I haven't gotten through my challenges...it's a day to day work in progress. All I can say is: don't give up.
The right medication at the right time
I battled depression and couldn't find the motivation to do anything after I got home from my stressful job. I basically fell asleep as soon as I stopped moving. I dragged myself through each day, miserable and getting heavier by the minute. I self medicated with food and my doctor put me on the meds to get me out of my funk. I also used talk therapy and took a leave of absence from my job. Almost immediately I felt better and slept better - more energy during the day. I actually made it to the gym more consistently and started feeling better about everything. I am off the meds now and I am a great believer in the right meds at the right time.
Welcome!
Welcome, Sherrie! We're so happy to have you here. I've never been in your situation but I am one of those people who naturally need a lot of sleep - I'm only truly happy with 8 1/2 to 9 hours a night. I can get by on less but I do get a bit grumpy... so I sympathise, it's hard to fit everything in! I've always been jealous of people who are happy with less sleep.
What is it that you're finding challenging specifically? Motivation, or morning exercise? Finding the time? Something else?
