50 and [finally] Fabulous
Hi everyone. My challenge is to give myself a good kick in the pants and finally get off the weight loss, weight gain merry-go-round. I've always been active and fit. Even after giving birth to two beautiful daughters in my twenties, I regained my pre-pregnancy shape within months. I was approached during an excercise class and asked if I would like to be a fitness model. I had a "six pack" at 45. Then my life flipped upside down. In 2007, first my Mom had a stroke, then my Dad, my hero was diagnosed with cancer. Instead of going to the gym, I spent time with my parents. I also worked more than 60 hours a week at my two jobs. Rock bottom came in November. My [now] husband proposed on November 4th, and my Dad was rushed to the hospital on November 5th. He died 19 days later and I will never forgot the overwhelming sense of loss at the moment of his passing. I turned to comfort food, gave up excercising and "found" 30 pounds. Atkins helped me slim down for our wedding in 2008, however the weight boomeranged back in no time. I am now 50 years old and angry at myself for allowing myself to get to this point. My challenge is to use this anger and stay committed until I reach my goal. And to remain committed AFTER I reach my goal. I want to be healthy again. I don't care if I see a "6 pack" again....sorry I'm lying. I WANT to see my muscles again. I WANT to look smokin' hot in a bathing suit. I WANT to make love to my husband without worrying about my squishy tummy. And I WANT to be heart healthy and live a long an happy life, to enjoy my family and be a positive role model to my daughters. 50 will be my year, thanks to the support I receive from this site. Best of luck to everyone out there. Together, we can do this!!!

50 and [finally] fabulous
I'm with you on this, Dawn. I've never been fit like you, but I've been working at it for the past 4 years. I started playing soccer and ultimate frisbee and walking and going to the gym. I've come from 221 lb down to 174, slow and steady, but picked up 14 pounds since Thanksgiving. I'm making 2011 my year to get to a stronger, fitter body and to arrive at last at the right weight for me.
You've struggled with a lot lately, Dawn, but your determination shines through. I've no doubt it will take hard work and self-discipline, but you can do it, Dawn! And so can I.
