Fruit is my favourite food, so when Toronto-area grocer Longo's volunteered to send over some of their fancy new apples, I couldn't say no.

They're called Hidden Rose apples, and while they look pretty standard on the outside, the inside is a vibrant pink that will brighten fruit salads and impress any pink-loving little girls (you know the ones) you might have in your life. And they're delicious, too—crisp and crunchy and refreshing.

Longo's tells me that this variety is exclusive to their stores, but since they only cover the GTA, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in other grocery stores and markets across the country. And even if you can't find this particular variety, there are so many amazing kinds of apples available at farmers' markets right now that I'm sure if you look you'll find your own new favourite.
