I can hardly believe it, but it's finally time to plant seedlings this weekend – and since I didn't get around to starting my own this year, that means trips to the garden centre and piles of leftover plant pots.

In previous years, I either bit the bullet and threw them out or put them in the recycling in hopes that they'd get recycled (I call that recycling denial, the idea that everything that goes in the bin is magically turned into something else, no matter what). This year, I'll be taking them to my local Loblaw/PC garden centre for recycling into next year's pots—and they accept all pots and trays, not just PC brand.
