News: Celeb shaves head to support friend with cancer

Country singer Kellie Pickler recently shaved her head as a way to support a friend who's about to begin chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

"Cancer does not discriminate," says Pickler.

Pickler's childhood friend, Summer Holt Miller, 36, was diagnosed with the disease in June. The chemotherapy treatment would have caused her to lose her hair, so she and Pickler decided to go bald first.

After appearing on Good Morning America with Miller for the big buzz, Pickler tweeted, "I cannot thank everyone enough for all the love and support you've given Summer. Chemo starts tomorrow. #SayAPrayerForSummer."

I was bald for 6 months due to chemo ~ I would have absolutely no problem shaving my head for a friend. :) Though, since I chose not to wear wigs, etc..., I can say the world is not user friendly towards bald women. :)

Yes I would shave my head!! I have stage 4 Lung Cancer. I was lucky as I did not lose my hair, BUT I am extremely blessed to sit amongst these women & men that have stood up in public with their heads bald!! I admire them & if a friend was going thru this & losing their hair then I would join her in her battle & shave of my locks too :)
