News: 15-pound baby boy born in China

Wow. A mother in China has given birth to a baby boy weighing 15.5 pounds!

According to the the U.S.-based Chinese news service NTDTV (via Toronto Sun), the 29-year-old mother had a normal pregnancy, and there was nothing unusual about her diet.

Named Chun Chun, the baby was delivered Saturday by cesarean section, and is thought to have set a record as the country's biggest baby.

According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest newborn ever recorded was born to an Ohio woman in 1879 and weighed 23.7 pounds.

...and how is mom doing?

Hory cow! Big baby!

WOW - giving birth to a toddler! I think it would have been nice if the picture posted for this story had been an Asian baby - your blue eyed pic hardly fits and almost makes a reader suspicious from the beginning

Why, when the baby being reported about is clearly of Chinese descent, are photo's at the front of your feed generic photos of a Caucasian pregnant woman and a Caucasian infant. A little white-centric are you? How about using an image of the infant the story is about, as you do have on in the image. It speaks to laziness, lack of imagination and perhaps a little latent racism. Pull it together. This gaff is embarrasing.

not that it really matters much but this baby does not look full blood Chineese, do you have the right picture

What a cutie! God bless them both. My own baby girl was 10.10 pounds when she was born by c-section. The doctors pulled her out and said: "We have a 3 month old!". It was the happiest day of my life.

this is amazing, he´s so cute, love the video..

Working in the area of womens and childrens health, I find it hard to believe that this mother was in perfect health. This child appears to be the infant of a gestational diabetic. It is not healthy for babies to be born this large. Their cardiovascular system is stressed as well as their ability to maintain thermal and sugar balances.

God Bless Him and his parents

Is this the obligatory, bare, pregnant belly photo of the month? Blech! I'm sick to death of those photo's. Keep you stomach to yourself. Gross.

A woman named Anna Capozzoli, from Agropoli, Prov. Salerno, Italy gave birth to a girl, Vera, (her youngest of 7 children) weighing about 25 pounds. This was in l949 or 1950. Anna was our next door neighbour. You should check the records. Vera's sister, Marisa was my best friend. We emigrated to Canada and lost touch. She died of cancer when she was in her early thirties (I'm guessing), she was studying to be a doctor.

The child os a CHUNK !!!

I thought China had a strict one child rule and this was the second baby in the family. The first being a girl. Hope the firl survives!
