Do you get enough vitamin D?

There has been a lot in the media recently regarding vitamin D and its benefits in cancer prevention.  I never really paid too much attention to it, as I am outside daily, eat a really good diet, and usually travel to two warm vacation hot spots per year, so I thought my levels should be fantastic.  My family doctor is screening all of her patients when they go in for their annual checkups, and guess what: I was really, really low in vitamin D.  The doctor said that most of her patients are — the only ones with healthy readings have been the elderly who have been taking supplements.

So, if you haven't been tested for vitamin D, go and have it done, and read these articles – they're most interesting, to say the least. Of course, discuss all of this with your doctor!!

Lastly, the vitamin D you want to take is D3, and the "gel/liquid" or drops work better then the caplets. And remember to take them with food.

Take care,

If you are taking 1200 to 1500 mg of calcium..you should be taking at least 400 IUs of vitamin D for you body to receive the best results..do not take one without the other...Your pharmacist is the best one to ask re the amt required..they will also give you a print out of any vitamin & prescription you are taking & when to take both..All medications & vitamins should be taken with water...anti-bitocs may require no dairy product when taking them...your pharmacist will advise you at no cost. They are more informed in this area than your family Dr. Check it out...the life you save may be your own.
