I've read some of the comments on here and I'm saddened by all the people on here. On person said that and I quote if you're moving and you have pets you should just send it to the shelter! WTF! You are obviously an ass! Why not give away your kids if your moving! I'd rather sit next to a barking dog than a stupid ass kid crying! I support bring animals onto planes! If your allergic there's lots of other companies that don't allow animals on their planes,go fly with them! Or take some freakin' meds. There's no way I would allow my 5lb. dog be put into cargo, I paid a lot of money for her and airlines take no responsibility if anything happens to your pets!
I am a pet owner and I suffer severe allergies to all animals but I have no problem with animals in the cabin. As long as rules are followed and the other passengers are advised before booking then there really isnt a problem. I guess people will complain about anything if you let them.
Okay, the people saying they allow babies so they should allow animals are completely friggin ridiculous! And the people saying allergens can come off your clothing etc. I'll grant you that, but there's only so much control over the problem an airline can take, and not allowing animals in the cabin is one of them. And those saying the government shouldn't babysit, we're not talking about the government saying no pet owners allowed in the cabin! Are you saying we should also reverse the no smoking ban on airplanes? They can figure out a way to have a portion of the hold that stays heated to prevent severe discomfort of animals. Absolutely ban them from the cabin. As one person mentioned, if they're allowed in the cabin, what's to stop a person from taking the animal out of the carrier and the animal getting around the plane, coming into direct contact, as another person pointed out? Seriously people, your pets, even though you love them, are not your children, they are not people, they do not belong in an airplane cabin.
yes animals should be allowed on planes.I have not had an anaimal screaming or crying for my whole flight but many times have had small children do just that.If they allow babies on board then they should allow animals.
As a former flight attendant, and avid pet lover, I suggest Air Canada should be as concerned with animals traveling in the passenger cabin as they are with passengers bringing nuts on board their planes! There is just as much concern for people who have animal allergies as there is for people with nut allergies.
BTW I had one animal that was taken out of it's carrier and chaos arupted when the dog squiggled free and ran up and down the aisle!
Honestly I love animals, and I actually could care less whether they are on planes or not. But that is only because I'm not allergic.
So yes, they should be banned only because there are other people in this world that are allergic to animals and shouldn't have to feel sick because of it. That's the reason we try not to wear strong perfumes in an office setting.
Your pet will be fine with the luggage if you have to bring them. It is no different down there than it is under your seat. They will be scared either way. So leave them at home or check them.
If there are so many people who are so severely allergic that they near death when in proximity to animal allergens then I had better not bring my guide dog and better make sure that all the fur and its associated dander is stripped from my clothing (heck that is a real feat let me tell you). Make sure you don't smoke before boarding a plane or wear perfume or scented hairspray/deodourant/fabric softener or chew cinnamon gum because goodness someone in the world could sneeze. Sheesh, when will people take responsibility for their own health and illnesses and stop expecting the rest of the world to revolve around them. I wouldn't fly knowing my pet is in a cargo hold freezing or sufficating to death just so some whiner didn't have to sneeze or take his medication.
They should absolutely be banned from the passenger part of the plane. I have had asthma for most of my life and am very allegic to cats and dogs. I would hate to be on a long flight and have a severe reaction to these animals and what would the airlines do then. Let me suffer or make an emergency landing???? Come on people, it souldn't take to much to figure this one out.
I'd rather see kids banned from planes. They are dangerous to your physical and mental health. At least you can keep a small dog in a carrier.
definately should be allowed, credit to air canada.
I recently travelled from NL to Winnipeg via West Jet and a lady sat across from me with a little dog underneath the seat in front of her. The thing never stopped barking from the time we left St John's until we reached Winnipeg. It was terrible. No, animals should not travel in the cabin of an airplane.
WestJet has been allowing dogs in closed carriers on their flights for the last couple of years. Personally I don't see what the difference between sitting beside someone that has a pet & covered in their hair or dander vs having one in a confined space under the seat in front of you. Allergies are usually triggered by touch & you are more likely to rub shoulders or breathe the air of the pet owner. We are expecting to have the government take care of you at every opportunity & therefore makes us more vulnerable when this doesn't happen. If you don't want to risk this then don't leave your home.
In tis day and age of Allergy Alerts for this and Alergy Alerts for that it only makes sense. If airlines have set aside certain sections for people with Food Related allergies it only stands to reason, pets, (that release Pet Dander, which is Airborne should be totally banned. Pet dander is left behind on seats after the plane is empty, and given the cursory manner in which aircraft are cleaned between flights, some of which are not, Pets Should Be Totally Banned from aircraft. If you're going on vacation, board your pet out, or have someone come in and check on it. If you're moving, put it in the luggage hold like you used to have to do, or give it away to a shelter or another home.
Allowing animals in a cabin with people is just wrong , and stupid, because of so many reasons...first one is of course allergies- which could be deadly, it's enough one has no control over who sits next to us, and how they smell, and act...now we will be exposed to animals...sorry, that's just too much,as much as i love animals, they do not belong in a cabin with people...just think about the horrible smell, noise, -will their owners put diapers on them ? what if they start throwing up everywhere...i would not want to sit next to one...and as a matter of fact i do have cat allergies and my son does too..so if i have a really bad allergic reaction , is there a qualified emergency team on board to deal with that ?
Seems to me like some people treat animals better than humans...
