Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, have begun their own personal weight-loss challenge, and are encouraging others carrying around a few extra pounds to do the same.

The Ford brothers weighed in publicly at Toronto’s City Hall on Monday morning to kick-off the Cut The Waist Challenge. Mayor Ford’s starting weight was recorded at 330 lbs., while Councillor Ford’s starting weight was 275 lbs. Mayor Ford says he hopes to lose 50 lbs. by June 18, and will have weekly weigh-ins until that date six months from now.

The political pair decided they both needed to lose weight while vacationing in Florida over the holidays, reports CTV.ca.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit Cutthewaist.ca to monitor the progress of the Ford brothers, and make a pledge to a charity of their choice.
