‘ Since a massive earthquake devastated the already impoverished country of Haiti on January 12, businesses, organizations and communities across Canada have banded together help relief efforts. Here’s what Canadians are doing to raise funds for Haiti’and what you can do to help.

‘ Tonight, three major Canadian networks, CBC, CTV and Global, are banding together to produce a star-studded telethon hosted by Cheryl Hickey, Ben Mulroney and George Stroumboulopoulos. The Canadian government will match all funds raised during the ‘Canada for Haiti’ broadcast.

‘ Shopper’s Drugmart lets you donate your Optimum card points to help Wyclef Jean’s charity Yéle Haiti Earthquake Alliance purchase supplies to use in their work. Toromagazine.com has pledged to match every dollar donated to Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) on January 22. APJ was founded in 2009 and raises money for Father Rick Frechette, a priest and doctor working in Haitian slums.

Free the Children is accepting donations for Partners in Health, an American relief organization working on the ground in Haiti.

Torontonians can shop to raise funds for the Red Cross on January 23 at Shop for the Cause 2: A Fundraiser for Haiti; a jumble sale organized by local stores and businesses.

‘ Our associate editor Lisa Hannam clued us in to these fundraising concerts taking place in her community, Hamilton, Ont. Some of the artists scheduled to play include Finger Eleven and Feist among others.

‘ This one comes from reader Ruth Moquin via Facebook: Haligonians can raise funds for Haiti by attending a benefit concert scheduled for Feb. 8. The "Halifax for Haiti" event will feature a performance by DRUM! as well as other local artists.
