I’m a big fan of beans—they’re super healthy, flavourful and filling, too. But sometimes I can be a little…lazy. I’m also a big fan of inexpensive lunches at work—but I don’t always have time to pack my own. So when I discovered this new line of heat-and-serve beans, it solved a few of my problems.

Canton Beans in Sauce and Brunch Beans are like your standard canned baked beans, but much better. For one thing, they come in eight varieties, like Indian-style chickpeas (delicious over rice) and Tex-Mex black beans (my favourite, just serve with bread or crackers). For another, they’re not packed in cans, but in "flavour packs," a high-tech evolution of cans that are lightweight but don’t need to be kept in the fridge—so you can bring a few packs to work and store them in your drawer. They’re good for you, with all-real and vegetarian ingredients. And best yet, they work for any budget, at $2.29 to $2.69.

Look for them or ask for them at major supermarkets.
