Apparently you can never escape the fashion standard. Or should we call it the double-standard?

I’ve always been told that fashion comes around every 20 years, and I have to say with some relief that the 80s are back. I, for one, am tired of seeing more thongs sticking out of jeans than there are drivers on their cell phones (yes, that many).

And as seen in Globe and Mail piece The steamier side of Sears, the fashion standard has once again evolved… or maybe I should say revolved. Sears Canada has launched a new catalogue aimed at bringing in a younger crowd. But get this: it features an unsavoury throwback: “svelte” models, skimpy swimwear and cleavage. Specifically the larger-than-life breasts of Pamela Anderson, who stole the show.

The Bay has already sniffed the hairspray in the air and has started toning down on Jones New York and Tommy Hilfiger in order to make way for this more “chic” apparel.

Having been blinded by the fluorescent trend of decades past, watching your kids go through 80s fashion may be psychologically disturbing for some.

How do you feel about the latest fashion trend? Let us know!

(Full disclosure: my boyfriend works for the organization, which is how […]

That’s good news for sufferers, especially considering there is currently no cure. Researchers studied 21 […]
