It’s Halloween, and I seem to have given myself a free pass to indulge in anything sweet that passes in front of me. But, could my sweet tooth be indicative of something more than the fact that I seem to have lost self-control? Apparently so, according to a new study which suggests people who prefer sweeter tastes seem to have a sweet personality, or friendly demeanor.

In one component of the study, participants were asked to rank how much they liked 50 different foods from the five major taste categories (sweet, sour, bitter, salty and spicy), while also answering questions about their agreeableness. A preference of sweets was linked with a greater level of agreeableness, and being friendy, co-operative and compassionate.

I think I’m generally an easy-going, friendly person, so it seems my preferences for sweet foods would also support this study’s findings.

Do you notice any links between your favourite foods or tastes and your personality?
