On aging and health
“As I’m getting older, my approach to aging is quite different,” she tells Best Health. “I make sure that I take care of my skin and body, especially with the work hours I have. And I don’t just take care of myself for aesthetic reasons but because how I feel is dictated by what I’m eating, how much rest I’m getting and how much water I’m drinking. If I don’t have time for a long workout, I’ll grab my dog and go for a quick run. Being active is my own moving meditation.”
On improving the lives of girls
“One hundred and thirteen million adolescent girls between the ages of 12 to 14 in India alone are at risk of dropping out of school because of the stigma surrounding menstrual health,” she writes in a piece for Time. “Young girls’ potential is being squandered because we are too shy to talk about the most natural thing in the world.” Due to the taboo nature of menstruation, girls in Sub-Saharan Africa, India, Iran and several other countries often receive very little education about their periods. “Many girls believe their bodies are purging evil spirits, or that they are injured once a month; this is a shame-filled reality they quietly endure. All of these factors perpetuate the cycle of poverty and stunt a young girl’s dream for a more prolific future.” Read more amazing Meghan Markle quotes about this topic here.
“When you invest in a great piece, you’re going to pull it out of your closet again and again and put it with a different top or a different sweater. It creates a different, more modern look but it’s still the same timeless items,” she tells Best Health.
On motivating herself to stay fit
“Even if I’m not in the mood to go, I never leave class regretting having gone. I always leave feeling sort of euphoric,” she tells Best Health.
On her own girl crush
On filming Suits in Toronto
“It’s really nice how Toronto has embraced us. There’s this really sweet pride that comes from knowing we are embracing the city,” she tells Best Health. “I love how excited people are and of course it’s Canada so they’re still polite.”
On what she feels about her celebrity status
“With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings. And, if I’m lucky enough, to inspire,” she writes in an Elle UK column.
On love and finding her prince
“We’re a couple,” she tells Vanity Fair. “We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
On Rachel Zane
“I’m pretty much a legal super hero.”
This does not technically qualify as one of Meghan Markle quotes – but it is a Rachel Zane quote. And that is close enough for us! (And she is a super hero in our books.)
