3 cool style innovations for summer

The latest summer gear is lightweight and easy to care for during those busy summer months. Here are three products you’ll want to toss in your tote bag

visors

Packable sun visors

The Canadian Dermatology Association recommends sun hats with a brim of at least three inches. These straw-blend, chiffon-flower-adorned sun visors by Headmistress are cute, and they’re convenient, too: A bow-covered Velcro fastener at the back releases to allow the hat to be rolled up tightly-perfect for stashing in a tote when you’re on the go. Bonus: They’re made in Canada. (Shown in “Blooming Solstice” [blue] and “Spring Sunset” [tan]; each $79).

Washable sneakers

Reebok’s new Skyscape sneakers come in a rainbow of colours. They are made with a soft moulded foam upper using an innovative technique similar to that used for moulded bras, and the flexible soles have a pillow-like design. The result: lightweight, ultra-cushiony shoes that are machine washable. ($80)

Fitness tops

The latest fitness tops go beyond the basic built-in “shelf” bra: Actual sports bras are attached under these tanks for a cool, layered look.

1. Icebreaker The tank and bra are attached at the neckline; they’re made of naturally wicking merino wool. ($99)

2. C9 by Champion A halter-style front, flared drawstring hem and tripled-up straps in the back give this top a feminine silhouette. ($21)

3. Oakley The hot-orange bra and the cool mint of the softly draped tank make a great colour combination. ($65)

4. Adidas This top’s thick supportive straps, “Climalite” wicking fabric and an energizing print are perfect for intense workouts. ($50)

5. GapFit Attached at the shoulders to a wide-strapped X-back bra, this loose tank has a scooped neckline. ($45)

6. Nike Okay, these are actually two separate Nike pieces. Customize support by layering the sports bra with this tank that dips low at the sides and front. (Tank, $35; sports bra, $50)
