When The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits theatres on June 30, moviegoers will be treated to images of their favourite stars, larger than life. And whether they’re pale vampires or muscular werewolves, members of the Twilight cast all have one thing in common: flawless skin. But a healthy complexion isn’t just for Hollywood’s hottest starlets’anyone can score radiant-looking skin by adopting the proper care techniques. Vancouver-based makeup artist Lise Kuhr‘who worked with Dakota Fanning on the set of Eclipse‘shares her tips for getting a face fit for the silver screen:

Get plenty of sleep. Sleeping is one of the easiest ways to make sure you look your best, says Kuhr. She notes that reducing stress and maintaining a proper diet are also important factors.

‘ Adopt a three-step routine. Keeping skin clear takes more than just a daily swipe with a washcloth. Make sure you cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize your skin, and always wash your face before bed, Kuhr suggests.

‘ Be sun-savvy. It’s not just vampires who need to be wary of the sun (whether they sparkle or not). If you’re going to spend time in the great outdoors, make sure that you’re wearing a good-quality sunscreen and hat. There is nothing sexy about skin damage!

‘ Don’t smoke
. Over time, smoking can wreak havoc on your skin, hair and nails. Plus, it leaves you looking more jaundiced than glowing. So butt out, and enjoy clearer skin’not to mention several other health benefits.

‘ Drink plenty of water. If your skin is dehydrated, it won’t look its best, says Kuhr. Make a habit of drinking water first thing in the morning and keep it up throughout your day.

Skin products to avoid

Beyond what you put on your face, maintaining healthy skin is is also about what you’re not putting on it’using the wrong products may end up doing more harm than good. ‘I would avoid products with harsh detergents, such as sodium lauryl sulphate,’ says Kuhr. ‘If you have a good skincare regime, your skin will appear renewed without being stripped of its natural lustre.’

Keep it simple

‘Keeping your skin looking great doesn’t have to be that difficult,’ says Kuhr. And you don’t have to be a superstar to maintain healthy skin.  ‘By adding just a few steps to your daily routine, it’s easy to replicate that flawless look.’
